How Do I Become A Member?
The new member process begins with submitting a completed Application Form along with a non-refundable $25 application fee. (The application fee is deducted from the administration fee for prospective members who are accepted for membership.) Family Member applicants will have priority over Regular Member applications. Member candidates must be at least 18 years of age, legal residents of the United States of America, and if a resident of Illinois, must have a valid FOID.
Upon completion of an application, candidates will be required to have a Board interview. If nominated, member candidates will be voted on to become Probationary members at the regular Membership Meetings. The primary sponsor must be in attendance for the candidate to be voted on. The member candidate must be approved by a unanimous vote by the members in attendance.
Once a member candidate is voted in as a Probationary Member, they must pay all necessary Dues along with the Administration Fee. Probationary membership will be for a minimum term of 6-months and no more than 12-months. Probationary members are required to complete/submit the following within their first year of membership.
- 50 hours of volunteer work to the club
- Safety/Facility Orientation
- Submit Firearm Safety documentation or complete a Range Safety check. Probationary members will not be allowed to shoot on the ranges until documentation is submitted.
- Attend all membership meetings. (If unable to attend they must notify their sponsor or the Board of Directors prior to the meeting.)
Probationary members are not allowed to bring guests on club grounds until they have been voted in as a full member except for events that are open to the public. Probationary members are required to always wear their badges when on club grounds.
Once the probationary member has performed all duties and service time as prescribed by the club; a vote of the full members present; taken at a regularly scheduled meeting, to grant full membership shall occur. This is a no fault policy meaning that there are no exceptions to this policy. Failure to follow the policy will preclude you from becoming a full member.Appeals to this procedure must follow the club’s appeal procedure and any grievance must be filed in writing per the appeal procedure.
Membership Sponsors
All applications require three (3) sponsors with a letter of recommendation from one (1) of the three (3) sponsors. The named sponsor needs to have been a member in good standing for greater than one year. Sponsors must be willing to meet the sponsorship requirements as outlined in the TLSC Policies.Membership Costs - 2025
The 2025 Membership Dues will be increasing by $5 across the board. Starting April 1 membership dues will be assessed a $10 fee for every month past due.
